A/ Not if you
· burn in natural sunlight or have
Skin Type 1,
· have a medical condition that becomes worse in sunlight
· have an excessive amount of moles and/or freckles
· have a history of sunburn, particularly from childhood
· are using medication that causes photosensitivity
· have a history of skin cancer in your family.
If you are pregnant, consult your GP before use.
Q/ How often can I sensibly use a sunbed?
A/ That depends on many factors, but 2-3 sessions a week with a minimum of 24 hours break – 48 hours for
Skin Type 2 between each session is OK for most people. The European Standard advises not to exceed 60 sessions per annum.
Q/ What is a sunbed session?
A/ The power and UV output of a sunbed varies depending on the model used. We can advise on the correct session length for you.
Q/ Is it true there is no such thing as a safe tan?
A/ No; tanned skin protects against sunburn, thought to be the main cause of melanoma.
